  2. For this MEmorial, you could post videos with news clippings of reporters describing the event. I know I remember where I was when that happened and I remember watching the news all day afterwards. I think the news clippings would be very representative of a large part of the tragedy of that day.

  3. A large part of the people that were affected by 9/11 is our generation. Many young children lost parents or loved ones during this tragedy, and it would be a good idea to take interviews from these people almost ten years later. The fact that these people were so young at the time adds to the horror of the situation.

  4. Also, the MEmorial could include a blog spot much like this one so that those who are not interviewed may add their story of how they were affected. This blog spot may also allow people who did not lose a loved one to talk about how they were affected, for example, maybe they joined the military. If possible, maybe a live video feed may be seen that shows the reflection pools talked about on one of the websites.

  5. Also, to go along with these ideas, is to show a link or a way to help with the effort in the aftermath of 911. How to help the families, and the rebuilding effort of 911.

  6. I have personally been to the ground zero were 911 happened and I thought the memorial built for the ones who lost their lives is amazing. There are plaques with everyone's names written as a tribute to the ones who lost their lives. The movie, World Trade Center, did a great job of reenacting what exactly happened that September day. I think more movies should be made to help inform people about the tragedy. If not a movie, then maybe some commercials or internet websites to help inform about 911 since it is effecting our generation.

  7. I have also been to the area where 9/11 the attacks occurred and it is truly incredible. I agree with many of the other posts in which we should interview the families of people who passed away on that day, but we should also interview those people who survived the experience.

  8. Like Cameron and James, I have visited ground zero with some friends from the area. I have learned a lot through their stories. I think it would be interesting to interview the police and fire departments in the surrounding areas that were sent to help.

  9. I have never personally been to the site of the WTC Memorial, but it is somewhere I would like to go at some point in my life. I think the link to the first website is a great link, and should get you all the information one would need. I think that in addition to the page there should be more photos, especially of the towers before they were attacked, so unknowing viewers can have a reference point. All in all a very nice Memorial to 9/11

  10. I too have been to ground zero and have seen where they are building a memorial. In this memorial I think that we should include pictures, live footage, and testimonials. I think we should also cover radical Islam. 9/11 was a result of radical Islam and their hatred for Americans. So many times people are worried about radical Christians, because they share their beliefs with youth and are influencing their minds, but they totally dismiss radical Islam which teaches death and destruction for the infidel.

  11. I have been to the site as well, my sister works across from it, she says it is so depressing to walk past everyday on her way to work. This memorial I think will change that, because instead of a construction site, there will be a beautiful park honoring the people who lost their lives. Also I really like that the people who lost their lives in the pentagon attack are going to be included in the names on the waterfalls. Some of my friends lost family members or close family friends in the attack, and it is sad that there has never been much of a memorial set up at the pentagon to remember them, so it will be nice to finally have a place that they will be remembered.

  12. I went to New York to visit family last year, and while I was there, we went to Ground Zero because one of my very distant cousins had died there and my aunt was going to show us what it looked like because my hadn't been there since before the bombing. When we got there it was an extremely sad experience, you could feel the sorrow in the air as many others had the same idea as us and gathered around.

  13. I think doing MEmorial is very inspiring because in a way you are keeping this event memorable in history. I think in this MEmorial they should have put more pictures and a video to make the MEmorial interesting to viewers.

  14. Along with the other suggestions about honoring those who gave their lives or lost loved ones, i think that it would be a good idea to focus on the New York firefighters and NYPD who were there and can give a first-hand emotional recollection of what happened. This could include interviews and video of the brave men and women of the NYPD and Fire Department.

  15. All great ideas, I also think that taking some photos of the actual remnants in the Museum and captioning them would allow people to link the pictures to the actuality of the events and let them make an emotional connection. Also the interviews idea is decent as well, maybe quotes from the interviewees or the first respondents could be incorporated into the MEmorial to make it a more powerful depiction.

  16. One of the most interesting things that could be done with this MEmorial is interviewing those who were witnesses to the attack and seeing what the chaos was like at the scene. This happened when I was in elementary school, I remember it vividly and looking back it seems like yesterday, even interviewing young people like me and recalling where they were when they first heard of the attacks would be interesting.

  17. I think it would be good to include video that was taken firsthand by people who were actually on the streets of New York. This would give viewers an idea of what it was like to go through this. It would also be good to include video documentaries of specific firefighters and policemen who gave their lives in order to rescue rescue people. It would give the viewers a more personal connection if they were to hear specific stories of these heroes.

  18. I agree with all the ideas of having interviews with those affected and having a blog. I believe that those interviewed should not only tell about that day, but tell the story of someone they know who was killed. People who survived can give their survival story and give the public an insight to their friends and coworkers that they lost. This MEmorial can change this memory of sorrow to one where we celebrate the lives of those we lost.

  19. i think it should include notes from kids our age that wrote down how they felt that day. I remember doing that in school. I think and addition like that would put those who visited the site back into the feelings of the day

  20. I enjoy all of the ideas of the people above that memorialize the victims and their families. I would like to pay special attention to all the people that helped other out of the building.

  21. For me i would like to see maybe some of the effects that the attacks had on patriotism in this country. This could be done with samples of blogs, interviews of the American public after the attacks. Also seeing videos of the families and people affected by the attacks would be interesting.

  22. Adding a blog would be a positive addition to the MEmorial. A blog not only for those who lost people in the Trade Center attacks but also for those who didnt and how they were still impacted.

  23. Due to the fact that I live very close to ground zero, I have many vivid memories from that day, and the repercussions that continue until now. It was like a domino effect. Kid were pulled out of school nationwide for the fear of another attack, friends and families anxiously waited to hear from loved ones for days. All telecommunication signals were down, and stories were conflicting. I think the 9/11 MEmorial does a great job at educating the public, serving the families that lost loved ones, and laying out the lasting effects from the terrorist attack. The sad thing is that this couldn't have been prevented. The names and photos of the shear mass of people who lost there lives would be effective to see how many peoples lives forever changed in one day. In addition to what my peers have added, how the United States legislation, policies and security measures have changed should be included, especially information on the war in Iraq. For this MEmorial, I feel photography and videos would best memorialize this tragedy due to the high sensitivity of the subject and emotions that came out of it.

  24. I think that the memorial could include media displaying courage during 9/11. This could come in the form of video as well as pictures of firefighters and police officers that were on duty during 9/11. Another useful source of media could be interviews of those that were at ground zero as well as those that were away attending there everyday routine.

  25. I have never actually visited the ground zero site, but I do remember watching the 9/11 events on the news as a kid. What I think would be most important for the memorial would be that it honors the loss of loved ones. Even though it was an attack on America, it directly affected the people of New York and I think that a more personal New York identity should be used to construct and design the site. This way, it would properly recognize who was most affected and it would make most sense to the people who live near the site.

  26. 9/11 was a tragedy that brought American citizens together. With this in mind, the MEmorial could also pay respects to the brave firefighters that entered the building knowing that they may never make it out. a slide show of firefighters who risks their lives for others should be included to honor their brave efforts.

  27. Including the firemen and police officers that lost their lives, in some way, would be a big addition to the MEmorial. Possibly also providing a log of all those that lost their lives and paying them tributes by adding a small profile of each person.

  28. I think a MEmorial for 9/11 is a great idea since some people haven't been to ground zero, so we still have a chance to learn about the memorial and information about the attacks themselves. I think adding more information about the emergency services and their response is a good idea, as well as adding a page about the memorial tattoos we read about earlier as well.

  29. I have never been to Ground Zero in my life, but I think the proposed Memorial Plaza is a great way to pay respect to those who have lost their lives. I feel that interviews may be nice for people to get their word out about their family members, and to, in a way, lay their sorrows to rest.

A sidenote: the Muslim Mosque in the news that was said to be built near Ground Zero is a huge insult to all of those who did lose their lives that day. Just sayin.

  30. A Memorial Plaza would be great, and I also think there should be interviews to help memorialize 9/11 and the people involved with the tragedy.

  31. There are plenty of news clips you could use to add to this to make it really sink in to how traumatic this day was to American history. I have had the privilege to visit ground zero and it's really an experience you can't explain. For others to experience this without having to visit would be an awesome idea for a MEmorial.

  32. actual non-professional footage of the attacks would be a very realistic representation or how things went down and what people actually went through at ground zero

    ReplyDelete
  33. I believe non-professional and professional footage should be shown to show each perspective on the attack.

  34. I liked how the memorial included personal stories told by the families of the victims. It actually put faces on the victims instead of just lumping them together. The memorial does a good job of showing how these people innocently lost their lives.
