  2. An idea for this MEmorial would be to make a web site featuring a copy of the Gettysburg Address as well as various quotes from Abraham Lincoln to communicate what kind of a person he was in real life.

  3. In addition to quotes from Abraham Lincoln, one could add quotes from other well known people about his character. This would help to create the full picture of who Abraham Lincoln was.

  4. The website mentioned that Abraham Lincoln grew up poor. It would be interesting to contain a biography of Abraham Lincoln on the MEmorial to display the obstacles that he overcame on his way to greatness. The inclusion of this may be inspirational to others.

  5. Along with adding quotes, the website should contain links to different documents that Abraham Lincoln played a part in during his presidency.

  6. The website mentioned earlier could also compare him to politicians today. It would help put a perspective on how good he was a serving. I think people would appreciate and respect him more if they were more informed about how great of a leader he was.

  7. I think that in order form this memorial to be really telling to someone who knows little about abraham lincoln, there should be a little bit more background information to really seal the deal. All in all though it is a well laid out design and a good memorial to him.

  8. The website mentioned that Lincoln grew up poor, and Austin said it would be interesting to have a biography of Lincoln in the MEmorial. After this biography I think it would be good to relate Lincoln's poor childhood to today, so that people will get a better understanding of how difficult it was to overcome the hardships.

  9. The website mentions that Lincoln's path to presidency and through life was not all that easy. I think compiling a biography throughout all of his life would be a great idea to show what formed his great character.

  10. This commemoration to Abraham Lincoln should include information on his assassin as well. It should include who he was and why he did what he did. When a man is killed for what he believes in, one he must be pretty passionate about what he believes and two he what he believes must be right. By examining his death one will hi-light his character and morals as well.

  11. I agree, I feel that it should recount exactly why Lincoln was assassinated, and it should also mention the lengths that Booth (his assassin) went to kill him, that would show just how important Lincoln was, and how much of a change he was creating in society.

  12. I agree with what people said before, it focuses more on Lincoln the legend than Lincoln the person. There should be more information about who he was and not just about what he did.

  13. I agree with what the others said about that there should be quotes and a biography of Lincoln. Adding to that, there should be more information about him and his lifestyle and presidency. Also more pictures.

  14. In this MEmorial, it would be good to focus on the more famous things he did as president, such as the Gettysburg Address, with quotes, but it should also go into more depth about his life and lesser known things that he accomplished as president and in his lifetime as well as his death.

  15. The MEmorial should incorporate an account of the Civil War in addition to the biography. It would help clarify why he is such a renowned person. The Civil War has long been called the bloodiest war in American History...

  16. This MEmorial should definitely have quotes by Abraham Lincoln, but in addition to that there should be quotes others had in regards to him. Pictures of him would also be a nice touch.

  17. I think it would be good for the MEmorial to include more background information about Lincoln as a person, because his values were so instrumental in making him who he was.

  18. I agree with the others that this MEmorial needs more personal background information as well as more on what he actually did in his presidency. There needs to be information on how he carried out his plans, and people's reactions. What he did throughout his presidency can be related to the present day.

  19. An idea would be to have site that represents Lincoln as person. It should include pictures and information about his personal and his quirks as long as the information about his accomplishment and work for the States. It should be a site that lets people today learn who he was.

  20. An idea for an electronic Lincoln MEmorial would be a place for people that look to and have looked to Lincoln's rags to riches story for inspiration. It could be an open blog along with his accomplishments.

  21. I beleive it would be effective to make several divisions of a MEmorial such as a section devoted to Lincoln as a man, what he did for the Union, and what he did for civil rights. This could be strengthened by using pictures and personal accounts of that time era. Also, videos of the Civil War interpretations such as battle reenactments could be used to add another level to the MEmorial.

  22. People always remember Lincoln for his heroism and strong leadership, but often forget how disliked he was in his time. What can be learned from Lincoln is that whats right isnt always popular. This MEmorial shouldn't compare Lincoln to politicians in a positive way, but should remind politicians that being Head of State shouldn't only mean you attain power, but instead that you're given the chance to single-handedly make the country a better, more unified place like it once was.

  23. I feel that the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C is powerful in an understated way. It isn't a museum filled with facts, its just a great sculpture and has limited words. I like how it incorporates the quotes all around it as well. It is a very well known symbol throughout the United States. Going along what my peers have said, the MEmorial should detail his life, because it all accounts for the man he became and how he was in office. He had to make many difficult decisions while in office and faced a exorbitant amount of criticism and disdain. While of course it should celebrate his accomplishments, I feel it is necessary for all audiences to learn a lesson from the MEmorial, rather than just praise him. He made many questionable calls with his military leaders, suspending habeas corpus, and his indifference stance to slavery. However, it is important to understand that as the President of the United States there will always be hardships. Lincoln was a brave, and his sole goal was to preserve the Union. It is important quotes from critics on Lincoln. As others have stated, it would be cool for the audience to read how Lincoln's office has effected the country today, and relate his administration to more recent administrations.

  24. I think that a good MEmorial for Lincoln would be to include all of the struggles he went through to becoming the 16th president. After all, what he accomplished can be seen in the idea of the American dream. The rest of the MEmorial would then include his achievements as president such as a reading from the first lines of the Emancipation Proclamation and the Gettysburg Address. The MEmorial would then end by detailing his assassination and also including what lessons there are to be learned from the remembrance of this great American president.

  25. I think that the memorial could include a bio-graphy of Lincoln showing the obstacles he had overcome and the accomplishments he had made. This would offer one with little knowledge of Lincoln to more easily see the significance of the memorial.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think a biography would be necessary as well on the website to provide the viewer with the vital background information needed to understand the purpose of the MEmorial. Reasoning for the creation of the memorial and some of his life achievements could be posted as well.

  27. As just about everyone else has said, a biography is almost a must, since it is important to know how Lincoln became who he was and how he grew up to truly understand him. While some quotes are good, I feel insight to his life is more important.

  28. President Lincoln did many spectacular things while he was in office. the MEmorial, along with all the other suggestions, could have a section focused on the positive events by listing out the major events that occurred while lincoln was in office.

  29. In the biography it could have a section that includes just what factors shaped Lincoln into the "Honest Abe" that everybody saw him as. Also it could list all of the things that gave him that reputation.

  30. The Lincoln MEmorial is a great respect for one of the most influential presidents in American history, but I feel that Lincoln would not have been the man he is remembered as had it not been for the brave army behind him. This is no way intended to be a disrespect to Lincoln, for he created a great document that moved the country toward civil liberties, but I feel that Lincoln should be recognized alongside his Union soldiers.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I wish the MEmorial would include more of his achievements as to why he deserves this recognition. I think it is neat the way the memorial hosts a lot of events and posts them to the site.

  32. Linclon was really an influintial man, but he had to start somewhere, I think there needs to be a highlight on his younger years and especially how he rose up pollitically since that is not really heard of much.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Maybe not a highlight, but more of a touch base kind of thing on his younger years. There should definitely be more of why Lincoln deserves a MEmorial. All else, this MEmorial is most appropriate for Lincoln.

  34. My favorite part about the Lincoln Memorial was that it included some of his speeches engraved in the walls. Also I remember that there was a giftshop inside when I visited, which was interesting because you could find out even more history about Lincoln through the books about him
